How I Discovered The Art of The Flying Camera

The beginning of a hobby can be a mysterious thing. It’s often a combination of different experiences and moments that gradually shape our interests until one day, they suddenly burst forth and demand our attention. My personal journey into the world of drone photography is no different. It all started with three significant events that, when put together, ignited my passion for capturing the world from a bird’s eye view.

A Local Inspiration

It all started with a coincidental encounter. I stumbled upon a local drone enthusiast who had created a mesmerizing visual masterpiece by combining aerial photography with an enchanting musical score, along the riverbank. The professionalism and sheer beauty of those images left a profound impact on me. The perspective they offered was unlike anything I had seen before, transforming familiar landscapes into breathtaking vistas. That experience sowed the first seed of interest in drone photography within my heart.

Seeking New Perspectives

As an individual who enjoyed sharing experiences with others through “walk and talk” videos on social media, I began to feel constrained by the static viewpoint of a handheld camera. I wanted to enhance my storytelling by giving viewers a new perspective that could only be achieved from the sky. This desire to expand the boundaries of my creative expression strengthened my interest in drone photography and fueled the fire of my passion.

A Glider Experience

The third turning point in my life was an experience I received as a gift: a glider experience. Flying high above the ground, I felt a sense of freedom and excitement that I had never felt before. Looking at the world from such a height was transformative. I saw how details blended to form patterns, and landscapes unfolded like tapestries. It made me feel like a bird, experiencing a view few people see. This flight not only changed my perspective literally but also represented my changing view of photography. I was inspired to capture and share this unique “bird’s eye view” with others.

Discovering Ted Nemeth

I had a turning point when I stumbled upon Ted Nemeth on YouTube. Ted’s incredible cinematography and his approach to “flying cameras” made drone photography accessible and exciting. His tutorials were simple and clear, making the daunting world of aerial photography seem achievable. The results I achieved through Ted’s teachings were astonishing, and this discovery cemented my commitment to drone photography.

Sharing My Vision

I have found great joy and fulfillment in creating aerial vignettes, so I have started sharing my own videos. Words cannot fully express the experience of flying, capturing the beauty from above, and the joy of creating. Therefore, I invite you to view the videos I have posted on my blog. They showcase the transformative power of seeing the world from a new perspective.

Weather permitting, I will share more of my creations with you, as each video is a step in my ongoing journey of exploration and discovery. I am thrilled to share this journey with you, and my hope is that these images will inspire you just as much as the process of creating them inspires me. So sit back, relax, enjoy the view, and stay tuned for more.
